Engineering overview
EMACO identifies the Y Strainer as a protective piping component used to remove solid particles from flowing water before sensitive downstream equipment for fire-protection installations. Select size, screen perforation, pressure rating and connection from the downstream equipment requirement and expected debris loading. Install in the approved orientation with room to remove the screen and route the blow-off or drain safely where provided. The Y-shaped body holds a removable screen in the flow path, allowing collected debris to be cleaned through the branch. EMACO lists flanged and grooved models with graphite or rubber gasket temperature ranges.
